In Santa Ana you can explore the town, near ruins like Tazumal and Casa Blanca and the volcanos Izalco and Santa Ana.
Bus No. 248 to the volcanos is exactly where it is located on the maps. But it’s hard to find as it’s very unusual to find a bus stop IN a building. One should start at 07:30 a.m. to be there to hike with a armed escort service. There are some food and souvenir stalls at the National Park, the bus returns at 04:00 p.m. All in all entrance and other fees are approx. 11 US-$ (which is also the official currency in El Salvador).
Hostel Casa Verde is very recommended, central location und super organised. Even a swimming pool is included.
